Earth 404 Fun Fact: With the stabilized Fur population coexisting with humans, popularity of dogs, cats, rabbits and other commonly known furry domesticated animals as pets, though still existent and accepted, waned by the time the 90s came around. Some humans (and even some furs) wanted something unique for an animal companion thus requests for more unusual animals such as reptiles, birds, insects and non-pawed, non-evolved mammals rocketed to the point that some wanted something far more exotic.

The process usually varies depending on the animal; some adoptions are strange yet easy such as owning a pet octopus or lobster which pretty much can be bought at fisheries selling them. Then there are those that requires a series of legal and valid documentations such as the right to own unevolved tigers, wolves, and, yes, dangerous reptiles.

Of course, some are against this practice, seeing that this is nothing but a mere practice of exploiting animals as a "fashion accessory". Some furs, on the other hand, remain neutral about this as some will point out that so long as their unevolved cousins are happy and well-treated, might as well let them be with their "family"
.

Just tying some loose ends; I'm pretty sure some of you were wondering where does Herbie, the star of this account, fit into the Anthro X Human world of Life In New Kirk. Well, utilizing the design from this AU piece, Herbie's a 28 year old Australian woman working in her family owned Zoo in New Kirk, Ohio. She lives there with her 26 year old Husband and co-manager Brice Tierman (AKA "Bit" due to his geeky nature), her 17 year old sister Bellanca (AKA "Bloomette") who works at the ape reserve, her uncle Ben, and a mute foreign man who they call "Z" who handles most of the load work.

Herbie is also the proud owner of Chives, a Saltwater Crocodile known for his unusual light-green pigment (matching an onion chive) and incredible growth spurt, earning him a Guinness World Record for the largest Saltie at 35 feet in length and weighing around 6,000 pound. He's well loved by Herbie and, in turn, loves his mother back to the point he's playful with her but Chives keeps a rather near-anthromorpic stubbornness and bossiness with the rest of her family; still they respect him, both out of fear and love, something the croc can live with.
